Chevene B. King, Jr.
Chevene Bowers King, Jr. is a practicing attorney located in Albany, Georgia. He received his B.A. degree from Oberlin College, in Oberlin, Ohio (1974) and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University (1977). Since 1981, Atty. King has concentrated his legal practice in the areas of personal injury, criminal defense and civil rights litigation with a specific focus upon employment discrimination and police misconduct. In 1983, Atty. King, along with his father, famed civil rights attorney C. B. King, joined a slate of other professionals in the areas of law, finance, and marketing to form Sports Plus, Inc., a minority-owned sports agency that was designed to assist Black professional athletes convert their athletic talent into other areas of business success. During that tenure, Atty. King took part in the representation of such NFL notables as San Francisco 49ers Jerry Rice, Chicago Bears Willie Gault and Dennis McKinnon, and the family of the late Kansas City Chiefs Joe Delaney.
In recent years, Atty. King has begun to focus on the plight of young Black males as affected by the criminal justice system and the need to reform our educational institutions as a direct means of attacking the negative and far-reaching impact that the courts have had and continue to have upon the future young Blacks and the community as a whole.
